New Zealand Kawakawa from Poverty Bay is blended with a traditional Chinese Sencha tea base; Sen (Green) cha (tea). Steam processing produces a leafy tea that brews to a lovely golden liquor. The taste is clean, vegetal and refreshing with some added peppery notes from the Kawakawa leaf.
Kawakawa leaves contain a rich blend of essential oils, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds that may help to support a healthy immune system, improve digestion, and reduce inflammation in the body.
Many people also use kawakawa as a natural remedy for headaches, menstrual cramps, and other types of pain and some people also believe that kawakawa may have a calming effect on the nervous system and can help to relieve stress and anxiety.
Brewing
Use 1 tsp per cup or 1 rounded tsp per person for a teapot. Pour freshly boiled water, cooled to 60-70C, over the leaves and infuse for 2-3 minutes. May be infused up to four times.
