Lovers Leap OP is a fine Ceylon black tea from the cloud-swept heights of the Nuwara Eliya district. Grown at over 6,000 feet, its terroir imparts a unique balance of briskness and subtle complexity. The long leaves steep to a golden amber liquor with honey, citrus, and biscuit notes, and just a whisper of spice. Its whole-leaf OP grade ensures a graceful infusion, while the light astringency lends freshness. Rich in antioxidants and steeped in history, this elegant tea reflects the quiet majesty of its origins.

Story behind the name Lovers Leap

The name “Lovers Leap” from for the estate—and its iconic waterfall—comes from a poignant local legend over three centuries old:

On a rocky precipice about 30m high, near the tea fields above Nuwara Eliya, a young Kandyan prince fell in love with a local village girl. Their union was forbidden—likely due to differences in caste or status. Pursued by royal soldiers, the lovers chose to leap together from the cliff rather than face separation, binding their fate in death.

Orange Pekoe (OP): Indicates long, whole leaves with solid structure, not broken leaf.
